Room Description: Ashburn

Overview
A recently-refurbished large bedroom on the second floor with double aspect windows overlooking the garden at the front and the river at the back. It is a beautiful, peaceful room but when the river is high, you can clearly hear (and see) the running water. The room has elegant antique furniture and a classical country house feel! About the River Ashburn
All our rooms are named after Dartmoor rivers.
The River Ashburn rises near Rippon Tor on Dartmoor, at a height of 365 metres above sea level.
The clean and fast-flowing river then cuts through a steep, wooded river valley and under stone brides.
The Ashburn then flows through Dartmoor National Park’s largest town, Ashburton. Ashburton is, like Chagford, a “stannary” town – a traditional administrative centre of the tin mining industry. After Ashburton, the River Ashburn joins the majestic River Dart near Buckfastleigh (home to the preserved South Devon Railway).
