So much history…so close by!

Castle Drogo

Within sight of Mill End Hotel, Castle Drogo was built between 1911 and 1931. The castle is positioned at the height of nearly 300 metres overlooking the Teign Gorge in the Dartmoor National Park.

Designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens for the retail millionaire of the day Juilus Drewe, it was constructed from Dartmoor granite and gives the impression of being a medieval castle. However, the interior is just like a country manor house. Set in a 12 acre garden that complements the architecture of the castle.

Experience Buckfast Abbey

20 miles from Mill End, this thousand year old Abbey is still home to Benedictine monks. Acres of beautiful gardens, well-tended lawns, and local arts, crafts and gifts. A delightful day out.
