These prestigious awards celebrate the very best in South West hospitality and recognise businesses that showcase exceptional quality, service, and commitment to local sourcing, all values that lie at the heart of everything we do here at Mill End.
Gold for Fine Dining
Winning Gold in the Fine Dining category for our restaurant on Dartmoor is a huge honour and testament to our kitchen team’s dedication to exceptional food and service.
The judges described their three-course meal as “truly excellent… cooked to perfection and presented beautifully.” They went on to praise the relaxed yet refined atmosphere in our restaurant, noting that “the place had a real relaxing buzz, if that is such a thing!”
Equally important to us is making every guest feel welcome and cared for. We were thrilled that the report commended our team for their “fantastic service… very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the food and sourcing.”
A True Celebration of Devon Provenance
One of the judges’ key takeaways was our commitment to local sourcing, which they described as being “at the very heart of their operation.”
From our breakfast menu through to our evening dining experience, our chefs take pride in working closely with trusted Devon and West Country producers. As the report highlighted, “Suppliers were named on the menu, there is a dedicated section on their website about local sourcing of food as well as in the informative welcome pack.”
We’re passionate about giving guests a true taste of Dartmoor, from fresh local eggs and meats to seasonal vegetables and sustainably-caught fish. It’s this focus on provenance and quality that helps make every stay and every meal here at Mill End uniquely memorable.

To also take home Gold in the Hotel category means the world to us. Every member of our team works hard to create a warm, comfortable and memorable Dartmoor getaway for our guests.
The judges commented that “every single member of staff was attentive and helpful throughout the stay,” and that the Duty Manager “could not have done more… very pleasant and genuine interest in us when we arrived.”
They also noted that our rooms were “very clean and tidy and comfortable,” and that our dog-friendly approach “in no way affected the cleanliness at all.”
