Traditional Devon Cream Teas are an institution here at the Mill End restaurant on Dartmoor; they’re served from 12pm until 4pm every day in our attractive gardens and lounges.
Our Dartmoor Afternoon Teas are a fantastic way to catapult your post-walk rest into a new level of luxury. For £25 per person, you can enjoy an ever-evolving selection of seasonal baked goods, the finest sandwiches this side of the Teign River and, of course, a beautiful home made scone with home made jam and Devon clotted cream.
Afternoon Tea is available every day for 1 to 55 people and can be accompanied by Champagne or Prosecco when requested.
Afternoon Tea – £25 per person
Prosecco Afternoon Tea – £32.50 per person
Champagne Afternoon Tea – £37 per person
On all food and drink bills there is a discretionary 10% service charge added. The entire service charge goes to staff across the hotel – if you are disappointed with your dining experience and would like us to remove this, please do not hesitate to let us know.
We cannot accept bookings or cancellations within 24 hours of the period.
For those with a serious interest in Cream Teas, the burning debate remains, of course – what goes on your scone first – the cream or the jam?
If you speak to the good folk of Cornwall they will probably tell you that they apply a liberal layer of butter, then jam, then cream. But here in Devon we (mostly) subscribe to the “cream then jam” school of thought.
Interestingly, London’s Ritz Hotel, purveyors of fine cream teas to the rich and famous, joins us in that opinion.
But truth be told, we don’t think it matters that much. Warm home-made scones, a generous dollop of jam, and a spoonful of local Clotted Cream make the perfect afternoon treat, in whatever order you choose to apply them!
For Afternoon Teas and Cream Teas we can accommodate groups – ask us about special discounts for 10 or more guests.
