Check-In and Check-Out
Your room will normally be available from 3.15pm on the day of arrival. You are of course very welcome to arrive early, and perhaps enjoy a spot of lunch, a coffee or a cream tea. Please let us know if you expect to arrive after 10pm.
So that we can prepare your room for the next guests, we would ask that you check out by 11am on the day of departure. You are welcome to leave your car in our car park if you would like to enjoy a final walk before you head off.
We serve a Full English breakfast from 8 am until 10.00 am every day
Dinner is served from 6.30 pm, with last orders at 8:45pm. If you are staying with us, we’ll always do our best to accommodate you for dinner, but it’s a good idea to let us know at the time of booking if you would like to dine.
Your dog will be very welcome at Mill End. The charge is £10 per night, per dog. You will need to make your own arrangements for feeding. In the unlikely event that your canine companion causes damage, you’ll understand that we would need to make a charge. Click here for more information on our dog-friendly hotel facilities
Children are welcome at Mill End, but please do let us know if you have any specific requirements. Children (under 16) are charged at £15.00 per night when sharing a room with two adults. Meals are charged as taken
Settlement of Accounts
Accounts are payable on departure. We accept most major credit and debit cards (and cash of course!), but not cheques.
We will ask you for a deposit at the time of booking of £100. The balance of your accommodation charges and any extras is payable on departure.
Different payment conditions may be applicable for functions, group bookings and special breaks (for example, Christmas and New Year).
If You Need to Cancel
We appreciate that plans can change for all sorts of reasons and are able to accept cancellations without charge up to 14 days before your booked arrival date and we will refund any deposit paid. Should you cancel your booking between 3 and 14 days before arrival the first night of your total stay is charged. If you cancel your booking within 3 days of arrival the cancellation charge is 100% of the total value of the booking. We will always endeavour to re-sell the cancelled room(s) and if successful will refund you at the rate they are sold at less a £25 administration fee.
For Christmas and New Year breaks, your deposit and any pre-paid balance are non-refundable.
We do suggest that you take out a suitable travel insurance policy to provide cover in the event that you need to cancel.
In all instances, please contact us on 01647-432282 as soon as possible.
In the exceptionally unlikely event that we should need to cancel your reservation for any reason, we will contact you as soon as possible, although our liability is limited to a refund of any payments received.
Differing cancellation terms may apply to special events and functions. Please ask us if you have any queries regarding the terms applying to your booking.
The Mill End Hotel does not collect any personal information from visitors to its website other than information that is knowingly and voluntarily given. Anonymous information is collected, such as the number of visitors to the website in a given period, but it is purely statistical and cannot be used to identify an individual user. Cookies are not used to collect any other information from visitors to the website.
We look to collect only relevant data and only hold data that contacts have given permission for. Personal Information includes contact details as well as all Special Category Data (eg. booking details, dietary requirements, birthdays, anniversaries). Under section 22 of the PECR we do from time to time reserve the right to market news and offers from The Mill End Hotel to existing customers of the hotel, unless you elect not to receive such information by informing us in writing or unsubscribing from. Contacts who do not open or respond to such correspondence will, after 4 years, be removed from the contact list. New contacts will only receive newsletter information if they have opted in at the point of data collection or by completing this link or any of the other links sent on booking confirmations or emails directly from the hotel.
All data is safely stored and encrypted in our Property Management System and only trained personnel have access to this information. Our internal policy forbids sharing data in anyway deemed to be unsafe or at risk.
Payment information & Retention of Data
Your payment information is encrypted into a compliant database whereby the information cannot be seen or retrieved once saved. All card details are destroyed upon check out and paper copies of card transactions are stored in a safe and destroyed after 5 years. All personal information is destroyed after 5 years unless you have opted into our marketing correspondence during that time.
Rights of Inspection
Any customer is entitled to request an SAR (Subject Access Request) to discover what data is being stored and used for them personally by the company. This request must be made in writing to the Privacy Officer alongside proof of identity (copy of driving license or passport) and will be responded to within 48 days of the request being received. You have the right to demand erasure of all the information (subject to safeguarding acts) which must be made in writing to the Privacy Officer.

Any contact has the right to demand erasure of all the information (subject to safeguarding acts) which must be made to the Privacy Officer at The Mill End Hotel, Chagford, Devon, TQ13 8JN. This will be completed within 30 days of the request being received.
Third Party Disclosure
Your personal information is very important and we will not disclose or sell your details to any other organisations.
The Mill End Hotel takes appropriate measures to safeguard the information it holds from unauthorised access or improper use. Our database is stored in a secure, password protected location. Only users authorised by The Mill End Hotel have access to this data.
If The Mill End Hotel discovers a Data Breach within the company, the response will be to inform the relevant Data Protection Organisation within 72 hours of discovering the breach.
The Mill End Hotel will also have the obligation, in certain circumstances, to notify data subjects directly if the data breach is likely to result in high risk to their personal data.
Integrity of Data
The Mill End Hotel takes all reasonable measures to ensure that the information it holds is accurate. In particular it uses reliable collection methods and destroys or converts to an anonymous form any out-of-date data. Individuals may request details of all personal information held by The Mill End Hotel so as to contest inaccurate or incomplete data, verify the information and have it corrected it as appropriate.
