It’s been another wonderful year for us at Mill End Hotel. As we welcome guests for their Christmas and New Year, we’re also enjoying celebrations of our own.
Our hotel In Chagford, Dartmoor, has been fortunate enough to win some of hospitality’s most prestigious awards this autumn. We’re recapping some of our achievements to celebrate everything our wonderful guests and incredible staff have given to Mill End.
Good Hotel Guide 2025: Cesar Winner
The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels across the UK. Referred to as “the Oscars of hotel keeping”, the Cesar Award goes to Good Hotel Guide’s best hotels of the year.
Mill End was the only hotel in Dartmoor to receive this prestigious award. Our hotel was praised for its excellent location, food, rooms and more.

Good Hotel Guide 2025: Editor’s Choice, Dog Friendly
Alongside the Cesar Award, Good Hotel Guide also rewarded us as one of the best dog-friendly hotels in the UK. Again, we were the only hotel in Dartmoor to receive this recognition and one of only three hotels in the whole of Devon.
We’ve always been proudly dog-friendly at Mill End, with dog-friendly travel awards dating back to 2021. Whether it’s the dog-friendly lounge and dining areas or the special Mill End biscuits and collar tag, we’re happy to make every dog’s holiday special.

Widely recognised champions of local food, Taste of the West promote great food and drink produced and offered throughout the South-West. Every year, they give out awards to businesses that bring out the best that our region has to offer, and we’re grateful to have been recognised for a second year running.
As finalists in both the hotel and fine dining categories, Taste of the West recognises the incredible local food we offer for guests in our much-loved Mill End restaurant.

Devon Tourism Awards 2024/25: Silver, Small Hotel of the Year
The Devon Tourism Awards are an annual celebration of the best that our county’s tourism and hospitality sectors have to offer. We were delighted to join the many great businesses that won awards by winning silver in the Small Hotel of the Year category.
Mill End was the only small hotel from Dartmoor to be nominated, allowing us to showcase some of the wonders that a holiday in Dartmoor can provide for our visitors.
Food Drink Devon 2024/25 Awards: Gold, Hospitality
Showcasing the very best food and drink businesses, Food Drink Devon brings together everyone who champions the very best of our local produce. Having won awards from Food Drink Devon in the last two years, we were delighted to make it three in a row this time around.
Winning gold in the hospitality section for 2024/25 means we continue to be recognised as an excellent champion for local produce. Our seasonally changing menus help to highlight the very best of Dartmoor, and our menus always highlight the local producers that help make dining with us so special.
